- Tolerates dry and exposed conditions with free draining soils.
- Forest margins.
- Not native to Taranaki (occurs naturally only on the Chatham
Islands).

| Description: |
- Erect small tree with upright branches.
- Four-sided branchlets. Flat and leathery leaves, oblong to oval.
40-65 mm long and 25-30 mm wide.
- Flowers inconspicuous, heads 6.5 mm across with from 5-15 urn-like
florets (groups).
- Brown stringy bark.
- Tolerant of frost/wind/salt.
