Where found:
  • Tolerates dry and exposed conditions with free draining soils.
  • Forest margins.
  • Not native to Taranaki (occurs naturally only on the Chatham Islands).
Description:
  • Erect small tree with upright branches.
  • Four-sided branchlets. Flat and leathery leaves, oblong to oval. 40-65 mm long and 25-30 mm wide.
  • Flowers inconspicuous, heads 6.5 mm across with from 5-15 urn-like florets (groups).
  • Brown stringy bark.
  • Tolerant of frost/wind/salt.
