- Free draining soil.
- This cultivar is of unknown origin but the name suggests that
it was originally cultivated in the garden of Messrs Darton and
Hart at Weatherstones Otago.
- Not native to Taranaki.

| Description: |
- An erect-growing bushy small tree 3 to 4.6 m tall.
- Fine silvery leaves have serrated/smooth margins - leaves up
to 40 mm or more long by 2 to 2.5 mm wide.
- Clusters of 1 to 5 flowerheads, about 1 cm long. Small white
flowers with yellow centre.
- Stringy bark.
- Tolerant of frost/wind/salt. It is excellent in windy places
and its rapid growth makes it ideal for quick shelter. A very
good hedge plant.
