Family: Blechnaceae Size: Fronds 20-100 x 5-16cm


Where found:

  • Common in coastal to lower montane forests, in drier areas, light to medium shade
  • Often forms extensive colonies on ridge tops
  • A fern with fronds which spread out in the form of a crown
  • Smooth, leathery and bright green above, paler below
  • Separate fertile fronds
  • Unpalatable to goats, possums, deer
