Family: Epacridaceae (Epacris family) Maximum height: 5 metres

 

Where found:

  • Coastal to lower montane shrubland, light forest and in rocky places
  • Up to 1150 metres
Description:
  • Openly branched shrub or small tree
  • Thin narrow leaves with a sharp point (12-25mm x 2-4mm)
  • Tiny (3-4mm) greenish white flowers occur in drooping flowerheads of 6 to 12 flowers, hairy petals and stalks with a sweet fragrance
  • Oblong fruit 2-4mm long is usually red but sometimes white
  • Flaky bark, peels off in thin strips
