- Lowland forests and forest margins
- Moist areas, along creeks and river banks
- Up to 450 metres

| Description: |
- A spreading canopy tree with a trunk up to 60cm diameter
- The small (25mm x 12mm) leaves are of varying shapes (round
to oval) with serrated edges, the undersides are pale with prominent
veins, juvenile leaves are narrower (5-10mm x 3-10mm) often fiddle-shaped
and with wider serrations along the margins
- Greenish hairy flowers on spikes singly or as pairs, the male
tree is thickly covered with flowers, the female has sparse flowers
- Fruit is a small (5mm) round red drupe
- Rough, ringed bark
